Dreamin' Big Blog Hop

Welcome to our Dreamin' Big Blog Hop!

Today we are showcasing items from our new Seasonal Expressions catalog with various projects created by talented Close to my Heart consultants.

If you are visiting from Amy's Blog then you are on the right track, if not please start at the CTMH Blog Challenge and Support Group Blog Hop Guidelines beginning with our hostess Carol.  Once you are done reading this post head on over to Haley's Blog....she's done an amazing project!

My project is a 12" x 12" layout ....

How to Make Today's Layout

1. Select Slate card stock for the base paper.  Cut the branding strips off of both 12" x 12" insect
patterned paper.  Cut one of the 12" x 12" pages to measure 11" x 11".  Distress the edges with scissors and ink the edges with Slate ink and adhere it to the base page centering in all directions.

2.  Cut Juniper card stock to 4" x 12".  Using the Dragonfly image from the Dreamin' Big - Cardmaking Stamp Set, stamp images across the card stock using matching Juniper ink.  Stamp the bug in between the Dragonflies with Slate ink and them emboss with clear embossing powder.

3.  Cut a 5-3/4" x 7-3/4" photo mat from Saffron card stock and adhere under the image card stock strip as shown.  Adhere the mat first and Juniper image strip onto the page over this mat.  Your photo will be place onto the top of this strip at the end.  Add the zip strips onto the top and bottom edge and trim edges if necessary.    Add the ADVENTURE title to the top right hand of the page using coordinating stickers from the Dreamin' Big Complements.  I like to use the sticker sheet as my layout guide so I set it below my title area and then place the stickers one at a time.  By doing it this way you can keep your title straight PLUS you don't misspell your word accidentally.

4.  Add your photo over the Saffron mat.  Lay a piece of Whisper Thick Twine onto the left side of layout from the bottom to the top.  Fray the edges for a rustic look.  I'm making my layout more of a masculine look instead of a garden look because my photo is my grandson Eli. Using a glue pen, adhere the twine securely and let dry.

5.  Stamp the same Dragonfly image onto White Daisy card stock using Poppy ink three times.  Using the matching die cut out all images.

6.  Add foam mounting tape onto the back of two of the three dragonfly images.  Adhere two images on top of each other skewing them slightly for the effect of movement.  The final bottom layer is adhered to the layout flat using adhesive not foam tape.

7.   Cut the 3rd largest circle from the Basic Circles Thin Cuts from Poppy card stock.  Add the insect sticker from the Compliments to the center of the circle and adhere it to the top right corner of the photo.  Add a few more stickers as shown.  Adhere one sequin inside the black heart sticker.

8.  Add journaling to the sticker circle to complete the layout.  Don't forget to date and sign your name!

January Weekly Layout for the CTMH Everyday Life Planner

I am using my Everyday Life Planner pretty much only for my business planning and not much for personal goals or appointments.  I do my entire month exactly the same as the first week, using the same paper choices and ink colors.  As mentioned in my previous To-Do List post.  I am using the
Sugar Rush Creative Collections Workshops Your Way kit from the new 2017 Seasonal Inspirations Catalog for January 2017.

I first started out by adding the stamped name of the month across the top of each page using the Capture This stamp set.  I take one of the branding strips that I trimmed off of the 12" x 12" papers and cut it in half....then I stamp as shown.

I also trim a small dovetail at each end and secure the strips down to the planner page with Scor-tape.  I then position the strips over the top of the page where the pre-printed month/date heading is.

I designed some stickers for my pages.  I have two craft businesses that I need to keep track of.  I decided to split each day with Close to my Heart on the left side and my Etsy Shop on the right.  I used Sea Glass as a complimentary background color but I will change the color choice out monthly to match the paper choices.  I used my electronic cutter and kiss cut around each sticker.

I also decided to create a spot at the bottom of the right side of each weekly page where I could log my family members and customer's Birthdays for the upcoming week.  I didn't feel that I needed another calendar block for current and next month.  I needed a spot to jot down info instead.  I created these stickers and used Canary for a complimentary color.  This color will also be changed monthly per paper choice.

I added a strip of Washi tape (from the kit) across the top of each sticker and trimmed the edges.

I prefer to do this prior to attaching the stickers onto the planner pages.  I find it easier to trim it even.

I position the sticker over the pre-printed small calendar boxes.  I also added a small cupcake image from a planner stamp set I had in my craft room and added a touch of gold shimmer brush to the frosting area.

I also stamped a daily header To-Do area using a stamp set I earned when I completed Step 1 of the Straight to the Top incentive program for consultants.  I love the brushstroke image!  I also schedule all my areas for regular blog posting as well as videoing, editing, uploading and other social medial posting.  This format keeps me on a regular schedule.

CTMH Everyday Life Planner To-Do List Pocket

This is my first Everyday Life Planner and I am transitioning from the Erin Condren planner vertical layout to this planner with a horizontal layout.  I am finding horizontal very easy! More on my set up in future blog posts.  I purchased this one.... I absolutely love the Sea Glass color.
If you would like to get yours they are on SALE here!

My 2017 Planner Setup

  • I am going to do a monthly color theme by using a specific Creative Collection.
  • Design a matching paper clip each month.
  • Create a matching To-Do List pocket from a coordinating Creative Collections product.
  • Include 4 photos during each month.
  • Schedule my two craft business duties separately on the same day by using DIY labels.
  • Monthly Birthday checklist for family and business customers.
  • Monthly Thank You Note checklist for business customers.
  • Track Etsy shop orders.
  • Highlight Close to my Heart campaigns and promotions.
  • Schedule regular video filming/editing and uploads to my Youtube channel.
  • Schedule regular Blog, Facebook and Pinterest posts.
  • Use the To-Do List for current and consecutive month plans.
  • Partially color some of the coloring book images.
  • Add mini page layouts throughout the year as an insert.

Pocket Frame

Today I designed a To-Do List Pocket that I can attach to the binding rings on the current week layout.  I do not have a Cricut machine but I did purchase a Silhouette Cameo a few years back before I became a consultant for Close to my Heart.  I am trying to justify purchasing a Cricuit so I am able to use some of our beautiful offerings.  At this time I am creating with what I have.  I used the Silhouette cut file titled 25 days of Christmas 5" x 7" deep pocket designed by Carina Gardner.    There may be similar Cricut files available.

I selected this gorgeous paper from the Sugar Rush Collection.
I like to add a strip of Scor-tape around the edge to secure my pocket.

This paper collection just makes me happy!
I just began playing with the stamp set of adorable donuts and exclusive ink colors that coordinate beautifully with this collection.  I used the matching thin cuts and my Sizzix die cutter to cut out the stamped images.

I added a touch of the new gold Shimmer Brush onto the Tangerine darn cute

I arranged the sentiment and donut die cuts onto the edges of the pocket, securing with the E-Z Dots adhesive only onto the frame.  This allows for easy movement for the paper insert to follow.

Pocket List Insert

I used a piece of White Daisy card stock for the actual list that inserts into this pocket.  The list measure 4-3/8" w x 6-5/8" h.  I stamped the title with an old planner stamp set I had in my inventory.  The lines are from our Capture This stamp set shown below.  I stamped the lines image with Sea Glass exclusive ink and then followed up with some Pomegranate accents.

I began stamping the lines 1-1/4" down from the top edge to give clearance for the border of the folder frame.  The middle sized lines work perfectly for the width of this folder.

I used a Sugar Rush dot for the letter "i".

CTMH RGB and Hex Color Codes 2016-2017

Hi Everyone!

I have a quick little share for you today.

I just finished revising color codes for the August 2016 - July 2017 Close to My Heart color palette.
I use these codes when designing projects to use with my electronic cutter.  I like to make the designs match the colors of the Close to My Heart Creative Collections.  Using these codes will also help with any planner stickers you may want to design using your Cricut Collections.  I am kind of a matchy matchy girl!  I really like how all my creations flow together so cleanly but also bring out character.

Feel free to experiment using the colors below.  I hope you find this info helpful and it saves you some time.

Introducing SPROUT

It's hard to believe that December is already here and that our Holiday Expressions Idea Book will be expiring on the 31st.  The new Seasonal Expressions 1 will be launching in January 2017 and I have had a sneak peek of some of the new products. They have some great goodies coming out!

I thought it would be fun to give you some tips and ideas to keep you scrapbooking and memory keeping throughout the upcoming new year so I have created the SPROUT idea packet.

1.  What is the SPROUT idea packet?
It is an instructional tutorial that contains my designs for: 4 cards, 2 one-page 12" x 12" layouts, 4 two-page 12" x 12" layouts, pocket page and pocket card designs which feature a specific paper packet from either the current Annual Inspirations Idea Book or a current Holiday/Seasonal Expressions Idea Books.
2.  What is included in the SPROUT idea packet?
You will receive a written instructional idea packet which includes all the information you need to make the specific projects previously mentioned.  I have included TIPS throughout the instructions as well as many color photos of completed projects.  There is a detailed cutting guide and supply list for all the products necessary to make the projects exactly as shown.  I also include a list of optional supplies for additional details.  This packet also comes with access to at least 5 20-30 minute "private" YouTube videos for each individual design.  These videos take you through my step by step process to complete all the designs.

3.  How do I received one?
You will need to purchase $35 worth of product or more from my personal Close to my Heart consultant website to qualify to received the current SPROUT idea packet.  Products can be selected from any of the Idea Books.  You do NOT need to purchase products featured in the current SPROUT idea packet offering.  Once your order has been processed through Close to my Heart, I will email you the SPROUT idea packet and the corresponding "private" how-to video links.  I will use the email address that is listed under your account information from your purchase.   These videos will NOT be available for public viewing on the Beneath My Branches YouTube channel.  They are strictly for private use by my customers.

4.  How often will an idea packet be offered?
I will be offering an idea packet for each Expressions Idea Book release as well as some from the Annual Inspirations Idea Book.

To introduce you to how the designs, videos and written instructions look, I am making the first release FREE to everyone.  That's do not need to make that $35 minimum purchase!  I'll be posting the first idea packet soon.   Follow this blog if you would like to be notified when the release is available.

Here are a few sneak peeks:
